SPRINGing Back Into Action!
Boy, time flies when you forget to update your blog. It can't really have been this long, can it? Well, yep, it can. I feel pretty sheepish about this, but I'm sure I'll get over it in seconds.... There, I'm over it. I do what I can, and that's it. Let's move on. :)
Emma finally has her first two teeth! It took almost ten months, but now she can really sink those choppers into... my finger. My nipple. My cell phone. Max's nose. They are SHARP! She is crawling around like crazy, pulling up on everything and scooting along the furniture. Right now, she's just pulled up on my thigh and is standing next to my chair, making little grunting noises as if to say, "Umm... I want some attention. What's that clicking sound? What are you doing? How can it be more important than I am? Do you see that I am standing? Helllloooo?" OK, she's given up and gone off to find something to put in her mouth.
Did I tell you that Emma puts EVERYTHING in her mouth? She is much more into this than Max was. Actually, and this is a little sick, we are keeping a list of things we find in her diaper that have made it all the way through the Emma food processor. Here's a selection of what we have so far:
a piece of magazine
a little rolled-up sticker from a piece of fruit
an itty bitty gold coin (a plastic pirate treasure piece from Playmobil).
Last night, we had dinner with one of our closest friends and Max's godmother, Nouna (aka Jenny Slavik). We went to this great Indian restaurant we like and Emma was picking at some rice and little pieces of apple, etc. Aaron looked over at her and said - "umm... she's got something green in her mouth and it looks big". I reach into the jaws of pain and retrieve a... what? A big, slightly slippery, smushy, bright green piece of... Already-Been-Chewed GUM! Apparently, when Jenny took her gum out to eat dinner, she wrapped it in the paper straw wrapper she'd taken off her straw and left it somewhere in Emma range. Emma, being the food-seeking missile she is, found it and decided it looked yummy. Ick! She'd already disposed of the paper (swallowed, probably) and was just working on that gum. Geesh!
Needless to say, be very careful if you visit this family... we're liable to bite your little finger off. :) More updates to come soon - we're off to the library to taste some books!
